Broker Remarks
Why Knot is a wonderful example of an American builttrawler that can trace her roots back to the commercial fisherman and shrimpers that were built in Titusville Florida. She was one of over 100 trawlers built on an extremely salty hull that is very forgiving and extremely easy to handle by two people. Each of the Thompson/Nelson trawlers have theirown unique characteristics but all provide a very stable platform for cruising either the Loop (bridge clearance of 18'6) or exploring the out islands of the Bahamas (draft 3'0). She is a very solidly built heavy fiberglass yacht with adisplacement of 17 tons. Her single naturally aspirated CAT diesel is a work horse and very economical to run. At 7 knots with her 750 gallons of fuel she has over a 2000 mile range. Extremely economical for cruising. Her owners have loved her and cruised her for the past tenyears and are now ready for a different adventure. They have completed the Loop cruised the East Coast and Bahamas and have logged over 20000 miles during this time.
Accommodations
One has the choice of entering or exiting Why Knot throughport and starboard pilothouse doors. The very first impression of this 15 beam trawler is just how bright and airy she feels. There are 360 degrees of visibility from the main deck of Why Knot. Large forward windows provide the helmsman with incredible visibility and seated guests in the saloon can also enjoy the passing scenery. To starboard is the well thought out helm console with a uniquely designed folding helmseat that is both comfortable in the down position and quite practical in the up position. Further aft along the starboard side of the saloon is located aconvertible settee upholstered in an island tropical theme that complements the neutral carpet. Across from the settee are two extremely comfortable free standing arm chairs. Just perfect forwatching TV or reading a book. A small table which is cocktail height separates the two chairs. Everywhere one looks in the saloon one sees lovely rich teak that is a satin finish. Big side windows provide ample light and beautiful vistas depending on where you are cruising.Proceeding aft and down threestairs one is in the master suite. A center line queen bed with custom covers tons of storage drawers and lockers and a walk in hanging locker make this a perfect stateroom for the active cruising couple. There is lots of light from the port lights on both sides of the cabin. The en-suite head boasts a large walk in shower with great head room and a newly updated Raritan Crown electrical head. Again one finds lots of storage. There have been no leaking port lights so the wood is absolutely pristine.Back up to the saloon and down forward one finds the galley with its full complement of appliances and convenient storage. In the past few years the refrigerator has been upgraded to an apartment sized GE stand up refrigeratorwith separate freezer located on the starboard side of the galley. There is an inverter to run the refrigerator when one is on the hook. Directly above it is a good sized Sharp Carousel microwave. To port one finds the recently upgraded 3-burner electric Galley Maid stainless steel stove with oven. A deep stainless steel sink good counter space and abundant storage will delight any sea going chef.Forward of the galley is a custom table that is recessed into the forward bulkhead. One can choose how much or how little actual dining space you desire. There is a tremendous storage locker under this table. There are custom window treatments in this galley/dinning nook. Because of the overhead pilothouse windows even this area of the yacht is bright and airy.
